Back to Bloggin

Clearly I suck at being a consistent blogger. However, this time I really am ready to start blogging again! This summer I have given into a guilty pleasure that I almost don't wanna share on here. BUT I will because I actually am sadly enjoying this show.

Make it or Break it
I know. I know. I know.
I know. Somehow I started watching it and well became a little bit addicted to this teenage gymnastics soap opera of a show. Addicted may be a little strong considering if I stopped watching today I don't think it would kill me to know whats going to happen, however, I'm probably going to watch the finale online anyways. If you're in the mood for something SUPER light and fun with lots of girly drama, then watch it. It totally fills the void. If you're not into that at all, then definitely don't watch it because it may be hard for you to put the slightly below average acting aside and just enjoy the drama.

NOW
on to the good stuff...

LOST
Haven't gotten to discus it and there definitely isn't enough time in the world to recap this season but all I can say is WOW. And a year from now, god I hope that these last years of genius entertainment were worth the wait!

ROBARNEY
How I Met Your Mother
Yeah. Robin and Barney finally may get together?? This is going to be a hillariously interesting relationship and for that matter season. PLUS Ted will be teaching the "mother"? I have a feeling he'll be flirting with a few too many students that we still won't know who the mother is by the end of the season. Oh well, as long as im laughing I'll watch this show till the end.

The Bachelorette
Can't call this "good stuff" but whatever. Overall, I enjoyed this season. I fell in an out of love with many of the guys! But when Jill let Reid go it was all over for me. He won me over and there was no turning on him. I liked Jill in the beginning but how she picked Ed is beyond me. PLUS the rumors about Ed cheating on her is just getting far too bizare. Can't wait to know who the next Bachelor is but if it aint Reid I probably aint watchin'.

True Blood
All I can say is, if you're not watching start. It really is the best show on this summer by far. And its not just because of the vampires!

Hung
Like it. Definitely don't love it. And probably won't continue to watch it if it doesn't turn it up a notch. But definitely a promising show.

Party Down
This is the Rob Thomas produced show that really is hillarious. Definitely a great show for all my Veronica Mars fans. Every main character from that show ends up guest starring on Party Down. It adds icing to the cake of this really smart and funny show.

What's new for the fall...

Glee
Did anyone else watch the one episode preview and jump with glee!!!?? What a great pilot. I know that I'll be addicted to this show this fall.

Community
If you're a true "Soup" fan then you must watch this new sitcom with Joel McHale. It looks hillarious and is getting very promising reviews!

Alright well that's all I have for now. Just a little boring recap of my TV life. But I'll be sure to create a new top ten list and start blogging consistently again.

Oh, How TV Has Changed

I was clueless back in September when I wrote my last post. Its been a long time but Halivision is back and ready to rock and roll. A LOT has happened since I last wrote and it would take weeks to summarize everything. So, I'm gonna start fresh and review the shows I've been watching and talk about some I hope to start...

Shows I'm Watching:

Lost:
Duhhh. Are there any real television fans out there not watching Lost? If you say yes, than you are not a real television fan. This show is the best show on TV so get off your high horse and become the follower you really are, and watch LOST! To the rest of us who started early, this season's ride is going to be ridiculous.

How I Met Your Mother: If you've read before, of course I'm still watching How I Met Your Mother. Funniest sitcom on TV right now (Yeah, maybe its not that hard to do but its a legit "legendary" show). So suit up, and sit down to watch How I Met Your Mother.

The Office: Last season had its ups and downs but I am loving this season!

[The Bachelor]: Yeah its over, but it took so much time and passion out of my life that it needed to be mentioned. Jason had my heart, and lost it. However, I cannot wait until Jillian is the Bachelorette!

Friday Night Lights: I actually haven't caught up with this season yet, but I love this show and won't stop watching yet!

Shows I want to Start:

The Mentalist:
Its getting great reviews, and its right up my alley for a show. So I'm hoping to start it when I get a chance! Looks really good!

Party Down: This is Starz's new comedy. Its supposed to be great and one of the producers is... Rob Thomas! And he's not the only Vmars family member involved on the show.. Vinny Van Lowe and Dick Casablancas!

Better off Ted: Supposed to be hillarious. Enough said.

That's all for now blogosphere. Oh how I've missed you!

2 Month Hiatus

So, I took another 2 month hiatus. I was really busy and TV free for FAR too long. Luckily its fall and all (except for 1) of the good shows are coming back or are back!

The Office
Well that was a heck of an episode. Only Jim Halper could propose at a gas station and everyone watching would be jealous! Do you know how many girls are going to get proposed to at gas stations now Jim? Or if they aren't will be completely disappointed? Although it was very romantic and completely adorable, it also showed me how pop culture is ruining America slowly but surely. Anyways, I thought the episode was great. Showed a lot of the good old humor some of last season was missing. I'm very optimistic for this season!

Fringe
Awesome show! I mean as we all know its a J.J. Abrams show so we could not expect less. The first episode is great and shows its potential but the rest just pull you in. I think it needs more of an ensemble cast but overall the characters are great. Olivia Dunham is no Sydney Bristow but she is fabulous. If you haven't tried the show then start!

How I Met Your Mother
Thank God this show came back. I watched seasons 1-3 all summer and I was ready for some new stuff. Barney in love with Robin is so cute but freakin weird. Ted and Stella aren't working for me but we all know she won't be the mother so I wish they would just move on! Either way this show is stil rockin' it.

Friday Night Lights
Premiers wednesday at 9 and is supposed to be better than ever!! I honestly cannot wait!

This may be one of my last posts for a while! My blog will be featured on www.thedailyblab.com under TV articles and reviews so check it out!

Dr, Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

http://www.drhorrible.com/

As a huge Neil Patrick Harris fan, I recommend this. If you make it through the first episode you'll probably be hooked. Act 3 comes out tomorrow so get caught up!

Can't have a TV blog without watching any TV

Hence why I haven't written in almost a month. Unfortunately, I have had zero time to watch TV. And from what I have seen, summer TV is really slacking. Apparently ratings are up, and TV viewers are at a high. But from what I've seen, TV quality is at a definite low.

The summer seems to be the season of reality TV. Celebrity Circus, America's Got Talent? I personally just could not get into these shows. To me, they aren't entertainment. A talent show judged by David Hasslehoff? That's like having Lindsay Lohan be a counselor at summer camp. I would never trust either of them!

Here's a thought, scripted TV. There's not much streaming around the TV river right now. The Secret Life of the American Teenager is actually my favorite so far. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally over the unplanned pregnancy phase of entertainment. Knocked up and Juno hit it big. The girls in Gloucester, MA, provided great laughs. Even Jamie Lynn Spears joined the bandwagon. But these girls were all a little trashy. We weren't that surprised. But Amy, she conceived her baby at band camp. Thats right, she's the all American good girl, who plays the French horn. She's the last person that you'd expect to get pregnant. She's too cute, too sweet, and never had a boyfriend (until now, after the pregnancy). She's falling in love, and you're really enjoying her cute life until you remember that she's pregnant. There's a lot of drama to come, and I don't know how long this show will capture my attention. But until then it will be my only summer show.

Anyways, I'd really appreciate if all of the TV writers and producers would read my entry on how to make the perfect show. That way, I wouldn't be caught watching shows that the writers of 7th Heaven wrote.

Lastly, shout out to Lost and the Losties! I miss you guys.

I cried during The Bachelor last night

It's true. I really cried. I've watched almost all 500 seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette and I had yet to feel even a little bit emotional during any episode. I watched so many girls crying in limos, so many hearts being broken, and nope nothing. BUT last night was some damn good reality television.

The waterworks:
The tears were all for one man. And that one man's son. Last night Jason took DeAnna to his hometown in Seattle. There she didn't only meet his parents and relatives, she met his adorable son. Everything was going so well, I was falling in TV-love with Jason, DeAnna was on her way to falling in real life love with him. The hometown date was going great. His parents were perfect and loved DeAnna! She really fit into the fam quite nicely! (Seriously, I never have this much excitement when talking about this show) And then it was time for DeAnna and Jason to leave. Jason's son was so upset. You could really tell how close they were and how much the little boy loved his dad. It was just so freaking emotional. The tears just came out. You knew Jason didn't want to leave his son but he had to take a chance on love. SUCH GOOD TV!!

The Rose:
Or lack their of for poor Mr. Graham. Yes, he was ridiculously hot. Yes, he was a pro basketball player. Yes, he had emotional problems and couldn't open up to DeAnna. Last night's episode proved that WOMEN know more than men. I mean Trista proved that when she picked the only relationship that lasted in The Bachelor series. Graham is the male version of every single girl that bachelor's have picked in the past. But ahhh, we women know better than that. Although we all loved him, we knew it wasn't quite right for long term love and marriage.

SERIOUSLY, this is the best season so far of the series. Plus, TV sucks over the summer. Therefore, I had to write about The Bachelorette.

Adios muchachos

Top 10 Things We Look For In A Show

This article is being written out of the slowness of summer, and the hopes that every TV show creator will read my blog and create some awesome TV shows in this much needed time. When in doubt TV geniuses, model after shows like Lost.
Warning: The following list is not in order of importance.

10. An Island (optional)- This worked for Lost. But really, I think that an island only works every 40 years (Gilligan's Island). Thus, in about 42 years, come up with another genius island show and people will be hooked. This is assuming TV still exists in 42 years of course. Maybe instead of watching we will turn on our teleporters and we will be transported to our favorite shows!
9. Comedy- Depending on the show, this is more important than other aspects. But even in shows like Lost, there are characters that bring in the humor. As long as you know when to bring it and how to do it right, then by all means, the perfect TV show needs some Hurley.
8. Ensemble Casts- Let's be honest, all of our favorite shows have ensemble casts; Lost, Heroes, Friday Night Lights, Grey's Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters, and the list goes on. This obviously isn't required to make an awesome show, but it allows each episode to focus on different characters. It gives room for a much more interesting plot line and for the next item on my list...
7. Connections- This is my favorite thing when done well on a TV show. Bringing it back to Lost, the scene where Claire's mom told Jack that Claire was his sister and that she was on his plane was probably my favorite scene and favorite connection in season 4. Weird connections on shows sometimes seem far fetched but really we live in a small world and things like that happen all the time. Usually just because we run in the same circle, not because we are going to end up stranded on an island but you know what I'm saying.
6. Secrets- This is a major given. You can't just throw everything on the table and expect us viewers to be amused. We need questions, we need secrets. But then again, too many secrets can cause people to be impatient and give up. We need a happy medium.
5. Good Looking People- This is clearly not something I just magically came up with. Let's be honest, most lead characters are beautiful people. Heck, most supporting characters are pretty darn good looking. For some reason, we Americans just would rather watch pretty people fall in love or fight off the bad guys (who are good looking). Its just who we are.
4. Romance- Those good looking people MUST fall in love. All good TV shows have some kind of love story in them. Love triangles are the trend but either way we TV fans need some "aw" moments.
3. Drama- We need some good drama. Whether it comes in the romance, or from "the others" on an island, we need it to keep us watching. Lost has set the major standard though, we don't want just normal drama anymore. We want polar bears and black smoke. So figure it out.
2. Conflict- This obviously goes with drama, but we NEED conflict. Without conflict there is no reason to watch a show.
1. Happiness- We also like our characters to be happy. NOT in a fake way, but in a relieving way. They don't always have to be perky or anything, but when we watch we are kind of living through them. We want to relate to them and be happy and excited for the characters we are watching.

TV show to look out for next season:

Fringe:
This is a J.J. Abrams production. AKA cannot be bad, and probably will include everything I mentioned above. Its about a female FBI agent who works with scientists to figure out some ridiculous events that have been occurring. Check out the trailer on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAu4L5_Fl84. It looks awesome!

Oh 'My Boys'ness

I really do not know where to start. I'm going to break it down into pros and cons, although the cons list will be much longer. Don't get me wrong, I still love this show, but the season 2 premier was not what I hoped for!

Pros:
-PJ and Bobby: This will most definitely be a con too but boy is Bobby cute. He's rich but doesn't show it. He's hot but doesn't really know it. He's my perfect man and probably doesn't know it. Either way I'd love him and PJ to get together but last night showed little hope for it happening too soon. Still though, I was perfectly happy with seeing him on the plane!

Cons:
- I wanted to write more pros but too many cons came into my head.
- They developed nothing in a half an hour.
-The gang wasn't together most of the show
- I can't decide whether I have a bigger crush on Bobby or Brendan.
- The Italy scenes were poorly done and just plain lame.
- Kellee Stewart. Enough Said.

Anyways, to be fair, I will give my favorite summer show many more chances to redeem itself. I still enjoyed the humor and the boys, but it needs a little more umph. Still though I can't wait for next week!

Around the TV world update:

Rumor has it that The Bachelor has failed once again. I really did love this season until the final Rose ceremony when Matt picked Shayne and I knew that there was no way he would marry her. I think everyone knew, including Shayne, that it wouldn't work out except for him. Poor guy, hope he finds "the one".

Britney Spears is on the ballot to be an Emmy nominee for her performance on How I Met Your Mother. This is quite the shocker to me, but congrats to her although I doubt she'll make the cut.

I miss Lost.

Okay well, that's all for now, but keep readin' and believin'.

Reunions and Separations

It's true. Its the month of reunions and separations. The month when some of our favorite T.V. shows end and some of your favorite summer shows return. The month where actors and actresses part ways due to a cancellation or hiatus and where actors and actresses reunite due to cast additions. This month is bitter sweet. But T.V. is T.V. and its been this way for years. So lets reacquaint ourselves with the reunions and separations of this summer.

Reunions

1) Kristen Bell and Francis Capra AKA Veronica and Weevil AKA Elle and Jesse: Boy this real world/T.V. world can get confusing. Anyways, Francis Capra is joining the Heroes cast next season and will definitely be sharing at least one scene together. Hopefully this isn't the closest thing we get to a V.Mars reunion show.
2) My Boys: I've missed PJ and the gang so much over this long hiatus. I need to know who gets on that plane with PJ and I will wait no longer than this Thursday night!!
3) Burn Notice: Not quite this month but still, I cannot wait to get reunited with this show's action, comedy, drama and everything else it entails.

Separations
There are wayyyy too many to list them all but here are a few.

1) Lost and Us: Obviously this is a very traumatizing separation for me. I will try and make it through Febuary without this show but it will be quite hard. Luckily, I am willing to re-watch the last 4 seasons over again to help my situation and I recommend this gesture to all of you.
2) Oceanic 6 and the Islanders: Another very sad separation that we will have to deal with and our favorite characters will have to deal with. But we'll let future Losties and Lost viewers deal with that problem in Febuary.
3) The prime T.V. season: Boy, I will definitely miss all of my favorite shows. How I Met Your Mother, The Office, and so on. The summer doesn't quite bring enough heat. Well at least in terms of television, its bringing a little too much heat weather wise.

The reunions are glorious and the separations are heartbreaking but either way we will survive this summer. And when fall comes around we will be ready for a whole new set of reunions and separations.

Summer is almost here!

For me, and most of the other college students out there, summer is here! For the rest of you, hang tight its on its way. The ONLY negative side to summer is that our favorite T.V. shows go on hiatus. Its sad but I'm here to make a top 10 list of shows to buy and get addicted to this summer if you don't already watch them.

10) Nip/Tuck- This show is awesome and very addicting. If you don't like shows that show too much then this might not be the one for you
9) Alias- There are 5 seasons of this show. 3 of them are 3 of the best seasons of a T.V. show ever. 1 is still awesome. and 1 is a little disappointing. Once you start though you can't stop. If you've never watched Sydney Bristow kick butt, its time to start.
8) The Tudors- This Showtime show is really good. Its about Henry VIII and its not exactly what we learned back in middle school.
7) Friday Night Lights- This show seems like a show only about football, but its so much more than that. Its an awesome drama and very addicting. I highly recommend it.
6) Big Love- This show isn't quite like most of our lives, I should hope. But its the best show about a polygamist I've ever seen.
5) How I Met Your Mother- If you've read me before you know how much I love this show. But whenever you're in the mood to watch something light this is the show to watch. If you like Friends, you'll LOVE this show.
4) The Office- Obviously The Office is on my list. Its the kind of show you can watch over and over again and its just hillarious. I definitely recommend this for the summer.
3) Heroes- Heroes is another awesomely addicting television show. This is the show I got addicted to last summer and it's definitely worth watching all day.
2) Veronica Mars- Anything bad you've ever heard or assumed about this show, throw it out the window. There are 3 awesome seasons completed of this show and its totally worth the time put into it. Once you start you won't be able to stop but you'll love it.
1) Lost- I don't know if i could invest 4 more years of my life into Lost but every second I have spent watching this show has been totally worth it. I'm jealous of anyone who could start now and just watch these episodes right in a row. This is a show that once you start you actually can't give up on. But if you make it to the fourth season (which is where the rest of the world is now), then you'll be happier and more satisfied with show then ever. And you'll realize it is the best show on television.
